Hey, we’re The General Public
But our friends call us Genny P.
We’re a trio of gals from Far North Queensland who produce new stories for stage & screen, focusing on female-led narratives with a comedic edge that prioritises collaboration.
Creative Collaboration & Making Light of the Mundane
At The General Public Productions, collaboration isn’t just part of the process — it is the process. We’re big believers in the magic that happens when brilliant minds collide (preferably over coffee or in a sweaty rehearsal room).
We know that the best stories don’t come from one brain in a vacuum, they come from the messy and joyful alchemy of artists throwing ideas around together. That’s why we’re always on the lookout for new voices, new visions, and new creative crushes to co-create with. Our storytelling style leans into comedy that finds the funny in the everyday — making light of the mundane and the all-too-relatable.
Whether it’s developing a series from scratch, bouncing scripts over late-night voice notes, or helping a fellow filmmaker get their dream off the ground, we’re all in.

SHIN SPLINTS
SHIN SPLINTS is a TikTok comedy series developed through Screen Queensland’s Channel Lab: Short Cuts program. Following one woman’s wildly misguided attempt to win back her ex by joining a run club, the series blends heartbreak with hilarity — all in under two minutes per episode. With over 100K views and 10,000+ likes, SHIN SPLINTS proves that comedy (and cardio) is best served short and sharp.
Past Projects
HOT MESS
HOT MESS is a riotous theatre-comedy set entirely inside a club bathroom, where a group of women collide over the course of one chaotic night out. Originally developed through Freshworks at Old 505 Theatre, the show was reimagined for Kings Cross Theatre’s 2021 Main Stage season. With rave reviews and a sold-out two-week run, HOT MESS celebrated female friendship, late-night confessions, and the beautiful disaster of a big night out.
NOUGHTY GIRLS
NOUGHTY GIRLS is a sketch comedy love letter to the 2000s, following three women whose invite to their 10-year high school reunion sparks a hilarious, cringey, and nostalgia-fuelled trip down memory lane. Packed with pop culture throwbacks, low-rise jeans, and emotional flashbacks, the show toured nationally to Sydney Fringe Festival, FRINGEWORLD Perth, Adelaide Fringe Festival, Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Woodford Folk Festival and Sydney Comedy Festival.
“It was body positive and queer positive and feminist, self-deprecating but uplifting - a show made about the past for right now and you should check it out”

What the Media is saying
"Hot Mess has all the best elements of a silver screen chick flick, grounded in a relatable contemporary Sydney context with a queer feminine edge… this show screams fun – but it doesn’t sacrifice substance for the sake of funnies."
